Frocktober, day twenty one: Anne Shirley, girl crush
My grandma gave me the Anne of Green Gables books when I was seven and from page one I was so thoroughly entranced – I had what I’d now call a full blown lady-crush. I wanted so badly to grow up to be Anne Shirley; to be an inspirational teacher, to marry Gilbert Blythe, to be described as “starry-eyed”.
As it turned out (and probably for the best), I didn’t become a teacher, nor did I marry a fictional character who would likely have died before I was even born (how would I have explained that to the wedding guests? Awkward!). I did, however, rediscover an Anne Shirley-esque frock in my wardrobe today, allowing me to at least live up to my (imaginary) literary idol sartorially.
Vintage dress – a 21st birthday present from Grandma Takes a Trip / CoSTUME NATIONAL belt / Dieppa Restrepo loafers / Fedora by Akubra (a wedding present from this lovely pair)
Don’t let the pretty dresses distract you from the cause – Frocktober is a fundraiser! I’m raising money for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation, and if you’ve enjoyed this post, you can contribute here.
