Wet weather style
It may seem a tad perverse to look forward to the rain, but since purchasing this gorgeous striped umbrella earlier this year I have received wet weather forecasts with glee. I love the unashamedly 1970s palette of browns, and spinning the umbrella quickly to create blurred bands of colour. I love that it is not a black umbrella – black may be perennially chic but, come winter, I find the sea of black umbrellas, coats, and boots to be a bit of a downer.
This trench coat was an impulse purchase from a favourite vintage haunt of mine about four years ago. The pleated detail at the collar and the warm, pink-tinged beige of the trench won me over on the spot, and I bought it to the detriment of my food shopping money for that week (oh, student days, how I don’t miss you). I’ve contemplated letting the trench go to a new home a couple of times, as it isn’t quite the perfect fit for me, but the trench and umbrella in combination make me feel pulled together in the rain so together they shall stay.

Thanks lovely! I’m very fond of this coat despite it’s not-quite-right fit.
No wonder you’re looking forward to the rain with an umbrella like that! Excellent gif is EXCELLENT.
Thanks Alana, that’s sweet of you. Although the beautiful umbrella is no match for the wild weather we are having this weekend (I don’t know that any umbrella would be), so it and I are hanging inside.
